Zulu Cycle Test (8 Feb)

One more thing...

Remember the Grade 5 Zulu Cycle Test tomorrow is an Oral. So, you should know the greetings for singular and plural.

All the best!
See you tomorrow!

What's in a name?!

The class gave me a "detailed" list of names they decided would be good for our Scorpion.
After much deliberation...
I have randomly selected three names. We'll vote on them and the most popular name will be chosen!

Here they are...
(And I mean I had everything - from Scorpio to Clippers, Bubbles to SnoopDog...)

1. Poison
2. Snippers
3. Jack

Which is your favourite!?

Our Class Scorpion

Hi guys!

Here he is!! Our class pet scorpion, in his new little home!

So, as you can see, we've created a terrarium. It has a thin layer of soil, with an assortment of rocks and bark and twigs. I have a light on him at the moment to make sure he stays nice and cozy. And somewhere in that terrarium is a little cricket, hopping around... not knowing what awaits him (shame!)
We don't know what species he is, so ABSOLUTELY no touching! ;)

We still need the following:
A name...
Any info you can find out about scorpions...

Let me hear your thoughts!

Verse for the week

Our Bible verse this week is:

"Don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the right time." (Galatians 6:9)

The man who wrote this (Paul), wrote it to Christians who found it difficult to stand up for what they believed in - Jesus Christ. So Paul tells them to keep on doing what they know is right - what Jesus says is right and good. He encourages them not to give up, but to keep on doing what is pleasing to God. THE COOL THING is that there's a promise from God here - if we don't give up, when the time is right, He will bless us!

So kids, when you learn from the Bible, what God says is right and good - do those things! Even if it's REALLY hard! All the way through life you'll be challenged - but God promises that if you stand firm for HIM, He will bless you so much!

Happy Monday!

Back to school...
Hope you all had a good weekend! :)

So today was exciting with a new potential class pet! A little scorpion. (Courtesy of Benji and his family)
I say "potential" because we need to see if it'll survive a few days in the classroom setting.
If not :(
But let's remain hopeful!

We'll have to think of a name and get him (or her) properly settled in a nice cozy terrarium with some crickets for lunch.
Let me know if you have any name ideas!

Have a great week everyone!

Verse for the Week!

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus...He made himself nothing, taking on the nature of a servant..." (Phillipians 2: 5 & 7)

Let's work on having an attitude about school and family and life like Jesus had! He was God, but He didn't think so highly of Himself - He was HUMBLE and thought of others before Himself.

Think this week about where you need to be more humble, and how you can put others' needs before your own.
Find someone you can serve, or some way that you can help and serve others.

A New Start

Welcome to my blog!

The purpose of this blog is to create a space for the learners I teach at Northwest Christian School, to share their thoughts and so that I can share mine.

On this blog we'll have the "admin stuff" like daily updates of homework for Grade 5 S, and outlines for Cycle Tests and Assignments; but, we'll also have pictures and photo's of things done in class, classroom news and the verse of the week, as well as web links to interesting sites.

Kids! Make use of this (as much as I hope to), its for you as well!

Happy blogging!
